Bryan's parents house is in Sonoma, California. Which is the wine country. If I could type it snooty I would have. They have a lovely home.
In the back yard is some neat artwork. The one I like the best is the stone maze.
It's kind of weird and neat. It's fun to walk the maze while you're on the phone not really trying. It gets confusing. I mean you can see around, but you know. After the maze I checked in on the guys .
After our great breakfast scramble, we went to Sacramento. We arrived at the Underground after a short trip to Guitar Center.
We warmed up, and we had the van parked by the venue. The great thing is that there was wireless. What was funny was the way we had the van parked, the front wouldn't get it, but the back did.
Oh the things we'll do for internet.
We have to check our myspace.
So while I was in the venue I decided to take some surprising pictures.
Well I'd be scared if I was coming at me too.
After the show we met some nice people that wanted to hit us. So we got a picture of it.
Nice swing slugger!
After the show we were staying with a really nice family, there was also a rumor that there was going to be lasagna, apple pie and ice cream. I know, how tough is life on the road.
The rumors turned out to be true.
It was excellent, and the pie and ice cream were great too.
They had a cat and two dogs, and the cat and dog were good friends. Or so it appeared.
Here is a short video of them battling, it was scary at first but I guess this is what they do.
So, what do the Hanks do on their day off?
Relax!
Some of play on the computer.
Others talk on the phone.
And some of watch TV.
This post is like that star magazine where the paparazzi follow the big stars around. Except we're not big and I'm not the paparazzi, so yeah, just like it!
It was a late night last night. We didn't end up leaving the club until two, didn't get home until five. After lunch, Leslie, Zoey and I took a quick nap. Well Zoey just sat there.
Leslie was going back to Los Angeles, but not before she had to drop me off in Sonoma. It was great, I'd seen her everyday this week and I was on tour. I like how that works out.
So we drove.
It was a beautiful day in the San Francisco Bay.
We arrived at Bryan's house where the rest of the crew was. We got there and had to leave right away. It was good though, because we had to drive the same way the girls had to drive to get back to LA, so we had a nice short drive before we split up again. I say girls because Josh's girlfriend was there that weekend too.
We arrived in Chico at Off Limits.
I climbed on the bar during the set.
Thirving Ivory played a acoustic set, I think the drummer had a rough night the night before.
Then Dirty Sweet played, while they were playing, Shane messed with them.
That window overlooked the stage, what a jokester! Then it was back to Sonoma for the night! And a much needed good night of rest. We have the day of tomorrow. Same Hanks time, same Hanks channel!
It is no secret San Francisco is my favorite city on this planet. Well it's not now at least. I was born there, and I've been there hundreds of times. I love it. So much to do, see, go. So I was excited to play there tonight.
First we had to play with the dogs!! My parents just got a new puppy too, a Brittnay Spaniel.
Zoey and Livi are friends.
They wrestle, chase, talk. I had to movie it cause it's so funny watching them play.
On the left is Livi and Zoey or is it? Another beagle came to the park that looked almost like Zoey just a little bigger, they got along pretty well. Chasing each other around the park and howling their heads off. It was fun.
Leslie and I drove up to SF to meet the rest of the guys for soundcheck. Somehow I got this weird shot.
I think I dropped it while the photo was being taken. But what an effect, I couldn't do that again if I tried.
After a great dinner around the corner, the guys and I warmed up before the show, when all of a sudden this car comes out of nowhere and pulls this guy over. It was an undercover cop.
Oooohhh, you're in trouble!!!!
He got taken away, but it was like "Cops" right in front of us.
We played to a big crowd, we had some awesome fans right up front, a bunch of cool dudes from Sonoma. I had to get a picture with them because they were so excited and they made the show for me.
There you are ladies and gentlemen, the cool kids!!
We got up real early to drive to the Aquarium. When we got there I decided not to go, because I had just gone there a month ago so I wanted to save some money. I was going to work. I went to a nice coffee shop and had me a mocha and worked on....yes you know.
After I picked up the guys, I noticed this crazy take on the Jesus fish thing, sorry to offend people, but I thought it was funny.
So we went to the university to load in. We were playing at the Black Box Cabaret. We pulled up and saw this sign. I think someone messed with it.
Pretty clever. This university was built on an old army base called Fort Ord, so around the campus is a ton of abondoned buildings. But the Black Box Cabaret was the old club for the fort, where the G.I.'s came to hang out.
It was pretty eerie. But it was nice, they also had some amazing Cypress trees around campus.
So we played first then Dirty Sweet came up. They had a great show, and the crowd was pretty awesome too.
After the show, we drove an hour north to stay with my parents. Another exciting thing was that Leslie and Zoey drove up to come hang out for the weekend. That's also the reason why I'm a little behind on my posts! But I'm back!
My good buddy Tony happened to be working in SLO, so he came to the show last night. I hung out with him after the show, he had a hotel room, so I stayed there.
The next morning we stopped by the club again because I forgot to get a picture of this wall right where we loaded in.
This wall is covered in gum, I mean all the way down, probably like 100 foot long wall, mmm yummy. After this stop we headed over to this bakery for some breakfast. Mmmm.
Tony dropped me off at the house the rest of the guys stayed at. I got there early so I worked on myspace of course.
I did make a new friend. We then left SLO and went to SB, along the way we stopped in Nipomo to meet up with one of Shane's friends.
Aaron, it was his parents house the guys stayed at, the one with the peacock. Which sounds like a baby being strangled when it cries out.
Back on the road we stopped for lunch. The BK Lounge, if you know, you know.
There was a poster about Shane up in the lounge. Pretty weird, they know his nickname.
We arrived in SB and the club.
I was happy today because Leslie was driving up to the see the show. She was also bringing along Shadow, who will be filming and taking photos for us along the rest of the trip. Leslie also brought Zoey!
Leslie and I ate some dinner at SOHO, I had some great Beef Stroganoff.
After we played I took Zoey out for a walk.
Leslie has a good friend in SB so we stayed with her for the night. A cool little house.
I slept next to the fireplace, it was dang cold.
See we're all bundled up still. Well after a nice sleep we were getting up early to go to Monterey and the Aquarium. Goodnight.
Back to the road for us. After a peaceful and dog filled day, we were back to the rest of this Calizona tour. Josh was just finishing up moving out of his house. While Shane and I were waiting across the street, this van pulled up and stopped in front of us.
It was a really nice day out, I'm sorry for you east coasters and your snow. I have to deal with the cold wind, I even had to wear a scarf at one point.
We were playing in downtown SLO at a place called the Downtown Brewery Co. or DBC for the rest of this blog. Nice place, nice stage, great sound, and free food!!!
There was five of us, 60 Wings, 2 Bugers, Ribs, Onion Rings, and 2 Giant Salads. And about a gallon of Ranch and Blue Cheese. Let this be a warning to anyone that wants to take us out to dinner, WE CAN EAT!
After a delicous dinner, I needed to do some exercise. So I watched Sean from Dirty Sweet play The Simpsons pinball game.
So after a brilliant sleep. I was going to work online and hang out with my dog today.
She made a funny face at me.
Ha, I'm seriously in love with her, I can't get over how adorable she is. I know it's sad, sick, but I can't help it.
She should be a dog model, she could be on the cover of canine magazines. Come on she's hot! So in between staring at my dog and playing on the internet, I took her to her favorite place. The dog park, of course I didn't get any pictures over there, I was too busy playing. I did get a shot of the beautiful sunset you can see from the park. It's the Culver City Park.
Sometimes out of the blue, Zoey decides to do a crazy rub dance on the floor. It's pretty funny.
So while we were hanging out, I somehow manged to kneel and put all my weight on one of Zoey's dog chews. It's this cow hoof that is filled with some paste she likes. Let me tell you, it hurt. It cut me through my pants. check it out!
Yeah, I'm a man, it didn't hurt that bad. Ok I cried, but Leslie kissed it, ok no she didn't, she put that really stingy rub on it then a band-aid that ripped the hairs of my leg the next day.
After that short detour it was back to playing with the dogs. I say dogs, because my roommate got home and he has a golden retriever that is Zoey's best friend. His name is Riley, here they are playing tug o war.
We awoke in the morning to learn that it had snowed in Tucson. Like I said before, global warming. Snow in Tucson, what is up with that. The worse part was the venue ended up cancelling the show, mostly because people wouldn't come because of the tricky driving situation. It looked like we were heading back to LA a day early.
I like the style of the front yard of Arizona homes, it's so hot during the summer there is no point putting in grass, but I think it looks neat. This house had a tree, but some of them have these giant cactuses.
After a nice breakfast it was time to hit the road.
Another long desert drive.
There really isn't much to take pictures of, so naturally I tried some self portraits while I was driving.
I was disappointed about the show cancellation, but it was nice knowing that I'd get to sleep in my own bed tonight and see my girlfriend and puppy. I really love playing with my dog, she is super cute and cool. She loves to play.
You can't.
Desert! For the most part there is nothing. But then sometimes, you see some beautiful sites.
The weather in Arizona was pretty weird, there were all these crazy cloud formations. I'm telling you global warming is really affecting our climate and our weather patterns. You'll see real soon what I'm talking about.
We stopped off at Shane's dads house for a quick bite to eat. We arrived at the show and played for mostly dirty sweet and four other people. It was actually a fun show, we kind of went up there and winged it, some jamming, lots of lame jokes, but that's what we do. On the way home from the show we stopped for some mexican, nay on the chile relleno and yay on the rolled tacos.
